School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SATS)
SITE relationship with local employers is one of support and collaboration. We want to assist you to develop good relationships with young people understanding that there young people are future employees.
What are School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships
A School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeship is when a young people is employed for a minimum of 7.5 hours per week in your business, they are then commenced into vocational training (outside of work time) whilst completing their senior education. Upon completion of Senior Education students will have not only completed their senior education and their internal vocational education in school but also completed a nationally recognised qualification through the experience they have gained in your workplace. It is a fantastic program for local employers to engage with as it will encourage young people to appreciate their local community.
The government recognises that young people need training to improve their skills and knowledge about the world of work and for that reason financial incentives starting from $4000 – $7350 have been made available to businesses who employ school based apprentices or trainees.
As we are the schools representative we can coordinate the signup with the Australian Apprenticeship Centre, the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and the student and their parent or guardian to ensure a smooth transition into employment for all parties and support and mentor the young person whilst you are still at school.
If you would like further information on School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships please email Tracey Mason at manager@siteqld.com.au
Work Experience
SITE engages with schools, students and local businesses to coordinate work experience for young people to view the “world or work”. For businesses the length of the work experience period works around what suits your business needs, I could be a block week or perhaps one day per week for a period of time.
Work Experience is a great opportunity for local business to participate in moulding our young people into efficient and effective employees for the future gaining skills to enhance their resumes, build up their employer contacts in the local community and potentially gain School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships or even part-time work. It’s a fantastic program and I urge our local business community to participate.
If your business is interested in participating in the work experience program please email Bev on admin@siteqld.com.au

SITE also seeks business people who are interested in sharing their skills, knowledge and experience with young people through guest speaking in school classes, mock interviews with young people and attending careers expo just to name a few.
